Quake
By iD Software (1996)
Quake is probably one of the most popular franchises that started back with DOS and is still going. Since then many more of the series has been released as well as many spinoffs as well.
If you enjoy a good FPS or love the quake series then this is prefect for some nostalgia and see some of the pretty amazing things quake did back on limited hardware.
Quake Gameplay
The gameplay in quake is pretty standard where you will find yourself needing to explore and navigate your way to the exit of a level. Along the way you will face monsters, secrets, traps and very often locked doors.
At the start of the game in the first level you will have a choice to pick three different difficulties with them being easy, medium and hard. There is a nightmare difficulty but this is hidden and needs to be found as it is insanely hard.
The game also has a multiplayer where you will be able connect several computers up and either play the single player campaign or fight to the death in the standard multiplayer setup.
This version of the game is only shareware so it won’t be the full game but it is a great way to see how the game is and if you want you can spend the money and get the registered version.
The graphics and sound in the game are very good for a DOS game with the worlds being pretty detailed and the monsters all easily identifiable. The sound effects are good as well and really add something more to the game.
Quake,
